Coconut Treasure Macadamia Nut Cookies

(Makes about 3 1/2 dozen cookies)

2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 large egg
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 pkg (12 oz) Toasted Coconut Nestle Treasures, unwrapped and coarsely chopped
3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter or margarine, softened
1 jar (7.5 oz) macadamia nuts, coarsely chopped
1/2 cup vegetable shortening
1/2 cup granulated sugar

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.  Grease baking sheets.

Combine flour, baking soda and salt in small bowl.  Beat brown sugar, butter, shortening, granulated sugar and vanilla extract in large mixer bowl until combined.  Add egg; beat until creamy.  Gradually beat in flour mixture.  Gently stir in Nestle Treasures and nuts.  Drop dough by heaping tablespoon 2 inches apart onto prepared baking sheets.

Bake for 9-10 minutes or until golden brown.  Cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes; remove to wire racks to cool completely.
